Will the Real ACLU Stand Up?

The ACLU can't seem to decide if a private club at a high school should have equal rights or not. The Alliance Defense Fund put them in a corner and they "pulled a Kerry" and changed their position. I took a look at "About Us" page at their website. Here are two claims direct from this page.

The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty. We work daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. [emphasis added]

The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees: Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin. [emphasis added]

This case shows their true colors, specifically they will fight for someone's "Civil Liberties" only when they happen to agree with them socially and politically. Their "mission statement" above is dross or rubbish as our friend Prime Minister Blair might say. Thanks to my Kelly for pointing this out. I enjoyed this one. The ACLU's support of a legal precedent used to gain recognition of a student homosexual group has reversed now that the ruling is being used to back the rights of a Christian club on campus, claims a public-interest law firm.

The ACLU insists Prince should be overruled to avoid giving Truth [Truth Bible Club] any benefits beyond the right to meet on campus.

"The ACLU is obviously engaged in religious bigotry – in cases concerning homosexual groups, they argue that Prince fully applies, but now, when it clearly applies, using the ACLU's own standard, to a religious club, they are seeking to overturn the Prince decision," he [ADF spokesman Greg Scott] said.
