I disagree and I'll use this quote to make my point.

"I would rather get away from that whole idea of clocks. We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive ... [and] going back is the quickest way on." C.S. Lewis

Can You Feel the Love?

I was googling for an update on Laura Ingraham's condition and I stumbled across this quote in a Daily Kos diary on April 26th at 22:15. I find it interesting the the "G" is a capital? Must be a recovering religious person who has "seen the light", but still can't break the habit of captilizing that "G".

Thanks God this evildoer has breast cancer. [emphasis added] Let me be blunt, I don't want to conceal my 'ill' wish if I may have one. I just wish she'd go to hell sooner rather than later.
Here is a snapshot of the page:

More ACLU

So I got stuck surfing the ACLU propaganda site... er website and I found this press release. They went to bat for a student's right to wear a t-shirt labeling President Bush as an "International Terrorist". This begs the question, what would have happened if someone was banned from wearing a "Sexual Predator" t-shirt with President Clinton's image on it? Would they have stepped up to defend this student? I have a wife and kids to support so forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

Will the Real ACLU Stand Up?

The ACLU can't seem to decide if a private club at a high school should have equal rights or not. The Alliance Defense Fund put them in a corner and they "pulled a Kerry" and changed their position. I took a look at "About Us" page at their website. Here are two claims direct from this page.

The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty. We work daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. [emphasis added]
The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees: Your right to equal protection under the law - equal treatment regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin. [emphasis added]
This case shows their true colors, specifically they will fight for someone's "Civil Liberties" only when they happen to agree with them socially and politically. Their "mission statement" above is dross or rubbish as our friend Prime Minister Blair might say. Thanks to my Kelly for pointing this out. I enjoyed this one. You can read the full article here, or see the excerpts below.
The ACLU's support of a legal precedent used to gain recognition of a student homosexual group has reversed now that the ruling is being used to back the rights of a Christian club on campus, claims a public-interest law firm.
The ACLU insists Prince should be overruled to avoid giving Truth [Truth Bible Club] any benefits beyond the right to meet on campus.
"The ACLU is obviously engaged in religious bigotry – in cases concerning homosexual groups, they argue that Prince fully applies, but now, when it clearly applies, using the ACLU's own standard, to a religious club, they are seeking to overturn the Prince decision," he [ADF spokesman Greg Scott] said.

MoveOn.org Recruits Brits

Below is a post from Wednesday's Minnepolis MoveOn.org fillibuster protest. I think they handed out flyers at Brits, Keegan’s, etc. that promised free Guiness if you made as sign that said Hitler legalized the holocaust, therefore the spelling. UPDATE: See KvM comments too.

Star Trek, Book of Revelations and John Bolton

OK... so I'm stealing the headline, but what do all of the above have in common? Check out the editorial at the DC Examiner about one of the main accusers of John Bolton. This Lynne Finney has been Barbara Boxer's main beating stick to use against Bolton. Check out Lynne Finney's website (WARNING: colors may damage eyes or at least make you sick). I could only read a few paragraphs before I had to stop. I'm happy to see that Minnesota's own Senator Norm Coleman is one of the few Senators who is standing up for Bolton and is ready to lead in the Senate.

Rep. Dan Larson's View On Marriage

63B's own Dan Larson attempted to amend HF0006 to remove the language that defines a marriage as one man and one woman. Thankfully, the measure failed.

In a shocking move, you can see that Rep. Thissen of 63A supported the amendment. I know this isn't how a representative democracy works, but if given the chance to vote individually I wonder how the residents of 63A and 63B would vote on this issue? I think collectively they'd disagree with Mr. Thissen and Mr. Larson.

Later that day, the bill passed the House on a 77 to 56 vote with 8 DFL breaking ranks in favor and 3 Republicans against (including Cox 25B - New Prague/Northfield, Meslow 53B - White Bear and Erhardt 41A - northern Edina).

The companion bill in the Senate, SF1691, has been referred to the Judiciary committee. Tell Senator Ranum and the members of this committee you support this bill.

UPDATE: Thanks to Dave Weinlick (SD63 DFL Chair) for the clarification. The amendment only would have modified HF0006 to "remove language which would ban the legal equivalent of marriage (such as civil unions)". This correction does alter the point a little, but I still contend that a referendum of SD63 voters would still fall in support of both of these bills.

Which Is It Chuck?

Senator Schumer, why are you not "fulfilling [your] constitutional mandate"?

Meaty Subject

OK, I continue to struggle to find time to research and comment, but I stumbled on to this topic while in New Ulm, my native land, last weekend to play in the 2005 Festmeister Hockey Tournament sponsored by August Schell Brewing Company and organized by two teams it sponsors. Don't ask how Team Hauey (Hauenstein Beer) did at the tournament. Bear with me, this is on topic. As a native, one of my favorite items to purchase when I go to New Ulm is jerky, summer sausage and landjaegers at local meat shops in New Ulm or Nicollet. Buying meats like these from Cub, Rainbow, Lund's, etc. is just not the same. I was sitting there scanning the local paper, the New Ulm Journal, that I delivered as a young lad from December 1979 until December 1987 and I stumbled across this letter:

Letter in New Ulm Journal on 4/9/05 Posted by Hello

As a supporter of fair taxation, small business and good meat, I have to say I agree with these people who sent this letter. Please contact your local reps and have them support HF1392 and SF1571. Finally, if you ever are passing through Nicollet or New Ulm, be sure to track down the good meats at one of the local meat shops (the Sausage Shop), you will not regret it.

DvK --> TBFKADVK --> Kennedy v. the Machine

After a lot of work Gary finally unveils the new site for for TBFKADVK. This great blog has gone through a transition since the Mark Dayton U.S. Senate era imploded sooner than expected. Gary started DvK in September 2004, it changed to TBFKADVK in February and March he unveiled the new name, Kennedy v. the Machine. Congrats! Looks great Gary, but remember the content is the best part.

This one is just a link. I really liked this post by MDE and I wanted to share it. Go take a look, it is a good one and if you happen to support the other side, be sure to read the disclaimer at the bottom.

How Did I Miss This?

Sandy gets her star. As I have said before, Sandra is one of my favorites.

Sandra Bullock receives her star and later, in a classy move, leans over to pose for a photograph with Igor Packer, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Posted by Hello
